Homogeneous Photoredox System for Hydrogen Production by Solar Energy

چکیده

In a redox system consisting of 5 X 10~ mol d m 3 Ru(bpy )3 2 + complex , 4 X 10~ mol d m 3 methylviologen and 5 x 10~ mol d m 3 E D T A in aqueous solut ions ( p H = 3 to 8.5) wi thou t ca ta lys t , hydrogen is fo rmed unde r i l luminat ion wi th l ight /. > 360 n m . The highest yield was established in the p H r a n g e be tween 4 a n d 5. The deg rada t ion of t h e componen t s b y prolonged use was s tudied spectroscopically. For compar i son hydrogen evolu t ion was also s tudied replacing E D T A by T E A or SCN~, respect ively, in t h e above men t ioned sys tem.
